YOU ARE STILL LACKING SOMETHING!

Would you like it if God suddenly change the way He relates with you; i.e. telling you per time the state of your life in relation to your destiny? Of course you would like it! Though some people experience this, most people lack the grace, even when they become born again. I thought about this when a friend and I were wondering about how an older friend whom we thought to be really great is remaining on the same spot for a longer time than expected.

It reminded me of a particular drama we did while in school. The young man (Say Akin) kept making research and tried to improve in every aspect of his life. His aim was to achieve a particular vision. But God kept sending him a message that he is still lacking something, and without him having that thing he could not enter the next stage of his life. Indeed, he only kept crying; he didn’t enter into the promises of God upon his life until he found out what he was lacking.

Now the question for you is, have you weighed your own life and asked maybe the reason why you are experiencing delay is because you are still lacking something?

When the Israelites were sojourning from Egypt to the Promised Land, the Bible records that mixed multitude of people went with them (Exodus 12:36-38). Sometimes I think these people were their problems in the first place. Little wonder they spent forty years for a forty days journey. Perhaps one of the reasons why they made calf for themselves as a god and forgot the mighty God who parted the red sea for them was because they were influenced by the foreigners in their midst. If God had allowed the foreigners to enter the Promised Land with them, they could have polluted the land. Likewise for every one of us who are pursuing one vision or the other these days. Until some parts of our lives get discarded, God may not allow us to enter the Promised Land; because if you enter the Promised Land in your present state you may just pollute it.

What you are lacking may be a state of completeness in God. I.e. being born again, giving up wrong pursuits, vision, habit, friends, or even leaving your present location. If you are still carrying some burdens, character, or past failures with you-they may also become weight that will prevent you from entering the Promised Land! “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

And if at all we should be doing anything in this our state of wilderness/waiting, it should be praying that God should help us and not wondering why God neglects us. Because the truth is, God never leaves us; it is we that leave God. About the friend above, I can remember sharing with him about getting closer to God many months ago; you should have seen his disgust. “I am a Christian and I go to church. That’s all that matters!” He said. But it doesn’t stop there: What about giving your life to Christ? What about stopping some habits that drive helpers away from you? What about checking your life to find out that you are lacking a state of completeness with God and realize that without that state, His promises may never be released on you?

Let us pray: God help me see those things I am lacking, that I need, to enter into my Promised Land. Amen.

  1. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, LET US THROW OFF EVERYTHING THAT HINDERS US [KJV said every sin that easily beset us] let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

I love this post sir. Lord, help me see anything that I am lacking that may hinder or delay me entering into my promise land before it is too late.

    Thank you sir.
